Steve D'Angelo
Composer
Steve D’Angelo, an award-nominated and winning music composer with over 25 years experience, began his career as a composer and guitarist for advertising. He has lent his expertise on over a thousand commercials for clients such as: GM, Ford and Molson. D’Angelo currently leads EggPlant’s Music division, where he is responsible for all development and production of music themes and scores for EggPlant Long Format (LF).
On the television side, D’Angelo has written songs for children’s shows including: Rocket Monkeys, Thomas and Friends, Cat in the Hat, Doozers, Beyraiderz and more. He has also composed scores for numerous news shows on the CBC network including: The National, The Fifth Estate, The Passionate Eye and Marketplace. He composed the powerful and evocative score for CTV’s edgy police drama The Bridge.
Throughout his career, D’Angelo’s work has garnered him both Canadian and international recognition. His first animated series Peep and the Big Wide World received an Annie nomination (2005 for Best Music in a Children’s Show. In 2008, D’Angelo’s catchy theme song for the series Fetch won him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song – Children’s & Animated series. Also, his ultra hip lounge score for Naughty Naughty Pets was nominated for a Gemini award in 2007. In 2011, D’Angelo contributed the score to the acclaimed animated short film hometown based on Yoko Ono’s poem.
In addition, D’Angelo has also written, arranged and conducted for: Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Dr John, Taj Mahal, Slovakian radio Orchestra and the Dublin Philharmonic.
